  • Shakespeare: As you like it
    13th February - 2nd May 2014
Tobacco Factory Theatre, Bristol, BS3 1TF

Both funny and moving, this is Shakespeare's greatest exploration of the meaning of love, its madness and transcendence.

Expellend from the city, Rosalind and Orlando - the one fleeing a tyrannous uncle, the other a murderous brother - rediscover each other in the Forest of Arden. But what awaits for them in that Arcadian wilderness? Will they find true love, or just lose themselves? Are they merely players in a pastoral fantasy, or do they have rare opportunity to explore the reality of their feelings free from all the normal constrictions of courtly convention and parental oversight?

  • Jeremy Deller - English Magic
    12th April - 21st September 2014
    Bristol Museum and Art Gallery

Jeremy Deller’s English Magic was commissioned by the British Council for the British Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2013. The UK tour of the exhibition is supported by the Art Fund — the national fundraising charity for art.

English Magic reflects Deller’s interest in the diverse nature of British society and its broad cultural, socio-political and economic history. The exhibition visits and interprets particular events or moments from the past, present and imagined future and Deller weaves a narrative thread through the exhibition, which draws in references such as politics, tax evasion, the Iraq war and Ziggy Stardust. Installations include large-scale mural paintings, drawings, photographs, and film, alongside historical materials and artefacts.

The tour is the first of its kind and will enable audiences across the country to see the exhibition at the William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow; Bristol Museum & Art Gallery; and Turner Contemporary, Margate in 2014.
At Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, Deller will develop several new installations and commissions for the exhibition, in direct response to the museum’s own collections. A new display, relating to the history of the Venice Biennale and the British Pavilion, will also be included.

  • Derren Brown: Infamous
    21st April - 26th April 2014
    Bristol Hippodrome, Bristol

The multi-award winning acknowledged master of psychological illusion returns to the stage in 2013 with his new one-man show Derren Brown: Infamous. The show promises to demonstrate once again why Derren is one of the world’s most renowned live performers; a dark manipulator of magic and mind control.

For Infamous, a more ‘personal’ show, Derren is re-united with his close collaborator and friend actor, writer Andy Nyman. He says:

'Now we’ve joined forces again, we’re very eager to make this show feel different. There was something of a template we followed with all the shows, which worked very well. It’s rather exciting and scary leaving that behind. This one should certainly have a different tone, and will mix things up a bit for those who have seen the others on TV or live.'

Infamous is Derren’s 6th show since 2003. He has toured every year since then and been watched by an estimated audience of over 2 million people. He has won two prestigious Olivier Awards, for Something Wicked This Way Comes (2006) and Svengali (2012), and confesses that touring is still his favourite thing to do.

    Tickets: £39.90 - £48.90
