The Aztec Hotel & Spa supporting Kidney Research UK

  • The Aztec Hotel & Spa has pledged to raise £30,000 for the Kidney Research UK charity.
     
    We have plenty of good reasons to choose Kidney Research UK as our nominated charity - it has supported one of our members of staff, Rachel Allen, who has been suffering from Polycystic Kidney Disease. 

    Just before Rachel started working at the hotel 12 years ago, she began dialysis treatment and as she became weaker, it became clear that Rachel needed a kidney transplant. This was donated by her sister Jackie, who also works at the hotel. Everyone at the Aztec continued to support the sisters as they undertook this major operation.

    Thankfully, both Rachel and Jackie recovered well from the operation and Rachel is able to lead a more active lifestyle.

    As a result of this experience, Rachel wanted to give something back to Kidney Research UK. Throughout 2009, our staff put on a variety of events ranging from a tea dance to a sponsored bike ride from Bristol to Bath. The fundraising is set to continue in 2010, with the aim of reaching our £30,000 target - we hope that you will continue to support us.
